AUSTIN (September 17, 2012) – The Texas Hospital Association’s state political action committee, HOSPAC, has endorsed Jason Villalba, Republican for Texas House District 114. One of the largest hospital associations in the country, THA represents more than 85 percent of the state’s hospitals and health care systems, which employ some 369,000 health care professionals statewide.
“Texas hospitals face numerous challenges in delivering care to our diverse, fast-growing population,” said John Hawkins, senior vice president of Advocacy and Public Policy for THA. “HOSPAC has endorsed candidates who recognize the importance of health care to all Texans, and value the role that hospitals play in caring for our communities as well as their significant contributions to the state’s economy.”
“Hospitals are major employers in the state, and workforce needs continue to grow as demand for services increases, especially among the elderly,” said Hawkins. “Sound health care policies will be more important than ever, and Jason Villalba has indicated a willingness to work with Texas hospitals to address health care issues.”
The 33-member HOSPAC board makes endorsements based on a candidate’s position on health care issues and input from local hospital representatives. Learn more about HOSPAC at www.HOSPAC.org.

Texas Association of Realtors endorses Jason Villalba
Texas’ most influential association pledges its support
September 12, 2012 – AUSTIN – The Texas Association of Realtors today announced its decision to endorse Jason Villalba in his campaign for the Texas House of Representatives to represent District 114. Making the statement last week, Chairman Joe Stewart applauded Villalba’s commitment to Texas homeowners.
“The next legislative session will be filled with difficult decisions,” said Stewart. “That’s why we need lawmakers like Villalba who understand the critical role homeowners play in keeping our state prosperous, which is why we’ve pledged our full support.”
Texas is leading the nation’s economic recovery, due in large part to its strong real estate market. To maintain that momentum, Texas’ lawmakers must understand homeowners’ concerns and act to bolster homeownership in the state and supporting those efforts is the association’s top priority this election season. Jason Villalba has clearly demonstrated a commitment to issues critical to sustaining our Texas economy, as well as the needs and challenges our fast-growing state will encounter in the future.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Texas Association of Realtors,” Villalba said. “As small business owners, Texas Realtors make the dream of homeownership more affordable for all Texans and I will strive to help support this important goal.”
As one of the largest and most influential trade associations in the state, the Texas Association of Realtors expects to be a considerable grassroots force for Jason Villalba.
Texas Realtors have championed a number of legislative issues enhancing the lives of Texans, such as urging reforms to the property appraisal system in 2011 and 2009, preventing a tax of $600 or more on the personal vehicles of independent Texans in 2007 and advocating for billions in property tax reductions in 2005.
